Description

The 1979 Honda CBX was a powerful, heavy, and stylish motorcycle with a 1047cc, 24-valve, six-cylinder engine. It was Honda's first six-cylinder production bike and the fastest of its time. Here's a quick overview: Engine: 1047cc, four-stroke, inline six with four overhead cams, 24 valves, and six 28mm Keihin carburetors. It produced 105 hp at 9000 rpm and had a 9.3:1 compression ratio. Performance: Quarter mile in 11.36 seconds at 117.95 mph, and a top speed of around 140 mph. Weight: 600 lbs wet. Fuel economy: Around 39 mpg. Features: Lightweight aluminum Comstar wheels, a 6.1-gallon sculpted tank, and a ducktailed cowl. Sound: The six-into-two exhaust was tuned to sound like an American Phantom jet fighter. Frame: Used the engine as a stressed structural component, and had a steel tube frame with dual rear shocks and a telescopic fork.
