Description
Large beautifully professionally framed lithograph entitled: 'Compulsory Education', based on the painting by Briton Rivière (1840-1920). In warm colors, it features a young Victorian girl who attempts to teach her dog to read. Briton Rivière was particularly fond of bloodhounds, which he featured in several other of his paintings. The lovely gold wood frame is in excellent condition (see photo), as is the glass. This iconic print was used for advertising by the Pears Soap Company, and ceased to be in production a long time ago. Including the frame, the lithograph measures 27" tall by 23" wide. The frame width is 3.5". THIS IS A RARE, BEAUTIFULLY FRAMED PIECE, AND A TRUE COLLECTOR'S ITEM. PLEASE CHECK OUT MY OTHER UNIQUE ITEMS FOR SALE, AND THANK YOU FOR VISITING!
