High end S-2EX monitors by TAD which is Pioneers audiophile division. TAD started out making world class pro audio speakers and transitioned into high end home audio in the 2000’s and have been recognized as making some of the best speakers in the world. This model is from the EX line that famed speaker designer Andrew Jones was in charge of and designed in conjunction with London AIR studios. The model is a true 3 way concentric design with: 1.4” Beryllium Tweeter 5.5” Magnesium midrange 7” multi layer woofer These are all very high quality drivers that deliver a very fast, neutral and cohesive sound with strong bass down to 40hz before gently rolling off into the upper 30’s which is pretty impressive for a monitor. The cabinets are very inert and well built with 2” front baffles which are time aligned. They weigh in at 60lbs each and come with matching factory stands. The original rubber inserts for the bottom are missing but can be used set straight on the ground or marble base like I use. Aftermarket footers also work very well. The speakers and stands are in great condition minus a couple marks and blemishes that aren’t very noticeable and a couple scuffs on the top plate of the stands that aren’t seen when being used. Have original grills in great shape. These truly are amazing speakers and have to be heard and seen to truly appreciate the beauty and art of the design. Happy to demo and local delivery available.
