Disney Collector Toys wooden Pinocchio Marionette. 1998. Still in the box and never opened. This is a collectors item and rare. Only 500 produced. Includes display stand and Certificate of Authenticity. A Pinocchio collector's dream! Mattel released this Limited Edition all-wood body Pinocchio marionette for Walt Disney in 1998 and then it was recalled. The recall was the result of an error in a statement on the box packaging claiming that the Disney film Pinocchio was released in 1959, when the movie was actually released in 1940 (see details in the photo of the back of the box). Also reportedly, Disney was not pleased with the darkness and variations with the wood grain on Pinocchio's face. Light weight strings are attached to a solid wooden control paddle, so Pinocchio can move and dance any way you want him to. Expertly carved from real wood, each Pinocchio is meticulously hand finished with the heart and soul Gepetto intended him to have.
