- - Ships worldwide. - - Hi all, Have a 2008 Dean MKH Origins 'Rising Sun' ML for sale. Matt Heafy/Trivium fans would know the history behind this guitar - post Ascendancy Trivium was sponsored by Dean, and both Matt and Corey had Razorback and Razorback V models they were playing live. Soon after, for the 2008-2009 model year, Dean launched their signatures at NAMM - the Rising Sun ML being Matt's. It was actually only sparingly used, with a lot of the studio recordings being on his EBMM models. These were used live alongside the Razorback models. Although built in Korea, they feature custom wound pickups made in collaboration with Matt Heafy (MKH86 and Nostalgia), as well as a Floyd Rose Original bridge. They also feature the striking and somewhat controversial rising sun paintjob. Retail price was $1689 as per the 2008 price list. A combination of the huge headstock with the weak scarf joint meant these guitars were a little too brittle for Heafy in his younger days, one famously broke as it slid off onto the stage from a nearby amp. https://offerup.co/faYXKzQFnY?$deeplink_path=/redirect/ Heafy openly critiqued the quality of the guitars and there's rumors of a drunken incident with Dean leadership, so the deal was off in 2009. Very few guitars were made during this time, and as years have progressed fewer still come up on sale. This one is not a pristine example - it does have some scrapes and bumps on close inspection as photographed, but still looks great from a few feet away and on stage and no issues that would affect playability. Ships with the seller's warranty card, and a aftermarket ML gigbag. It does ship worldwide, giving any Trivium fans a chance to own a super rare, short-lived Matt Heafy signature. Prices do seem on the rise due to rarity. I myself am not that keen to sell, so pricing it slightly higher, despite the not-so-mint condition, given it's among the few on sale that ship worldwide.
