Description

Soil options - Cactus/succulent mix: A good pre-made option that is formulated for fast drainage. Perlite and potting soil: A 50/50 blend of perlite (or pumice) and potting soil works well to improve drainage and aeration. Peat and perlite: A mix of 50% peat and 50% perlite (or pumice) is also recommended for its balance of moisture retention and aeration. Planting tips - Ensure the cutting is calloused: Allow the cut end to dry and form a callus for about a week before planting to prevent rot. Use a pot with drainage holes: This is essential for excess water to escape. Moisten the soil before planting: Lightly water the soil mix before inserting the cutting. Use a rooting hormone powder on the cut end before planting, to encourage root growth, though it's not mandatory. Insert the cutting about 3-4 inches deep: Pack the soil firmly around the cutting to keep it stable. Place the pot in a warm spot with good ventilation, but out of direct, intense sun. Delay watering after planting: Wait about two weeks to water, since the soil was pre-moistened, to allow the cutting to settle and begin rooting. Once fully rooted, it will grow best in full sun and well-drained soil. They are fairly drought- and salt-tolerant, once they are established in the landscape. Plumeria plants, which are also known as Frangipani, are slow growing deciduous trees, native to tropical regions. The flowers of these beautiful plants are used in making traditional Hawaiian leis. They are highly fragrant and bloom freely from spring throughout fall. The flowers stand out nicely amid the large leaved foliage. Many, many other varieties of plants available, which are For Sale, most to attract butterflies and hummingbirds. Also have some succulents, some of which I give away for Free and several plants that I give away Free Cuttings of. Most are listed in separate ads.
