Description
Singer model 66 sewing machine head with “Red Eye” decal set. Serial number (G613017) dates to June 22, 1910. This is the older style of 66 that was designed for treadle only: there is no motor/hand crank mount, the bovine winder is designed to be driven off the belt instead of a surface on the hand wheel, and the hand wheel is the larger, heavier 6-spoke design that lacks a surface for a bobbin winder tire. This machine is complete and turns freely. I’ve just given it a foot coat of oil inside and out, but haven’t cleaned it or checked it for adjustment, which I can do for $100 more, but which is also pretty easy to teach yourself to do with YouTube. Decals are 90-95% complete. Presser foot and 1 metal bobbin included. These older machines are really nice to treadle with because the larger, heavier balance wheel gives it more rotational inertia, making it feel smoother to sew with. It’s almost like it’s more powerful because that big wheel holds more kinetic energy that helps you stitch through thicker material more smoothly, though it still uses the same amount of foot power.
