Description
For Sale is a kit-built Rickenbacker 4001 and/or 4003 style bass guitar. The kit came from https://offerup.com/redirect/?o=dmliZXdvcmtzZ3VpdGFycy5jb20= with frets and neck inlays done, and the body a slab of wood with the control cavity and pickup holes routed. The body wood is ash, and the neck is mahogany with a real rosewood fret board. The bass was shaped using a 1975 Ibanez 2388B as a template. The Ibanez was a direct clone of the Rickenbacker made during the “lawsuit” era, except for the bolt on neck (this one is a set neck like the Rick). Beside the wood and the tuners, none of the kit components were used. The body had binding installed. The pickups are Seymour Duncan. A Rickenbacker specific SRB-1 in the neck position, and a Jazz SJB-2 in the bridge position. Wired with CTS 500k pots and 0.047 uf capacitors. Switchcraft toggle and output jack. The bridge is a Hipshot KickAss and it is currently strung up with GHS 45-105 flat wound strings. The stock tuners work very well and keep in tune. The bass is a brilliant Ox Blood color and was finished with real nitrocellulose lacquer, polished to a high gloss. Very lightly aged to get just the slightest cracking to the nitro that really can only be seen in direct sunlight. This thing plays and sounds great, and much cheaper than a Rick. Thanks for looking!
