Description
This is awesome and old. It’s an Ohaus Harvard trip double balance beam scale by Newark Scale Works, circa 1920s (Newark Scale Works started in 1914, that’s the NSW signia you see under the trays and several other spots). It is heavy duty with a cast iron base, brass fixtures, and milk glass trays. Still works perfectly. Shows obvious signs of wear but still an incredible item. Could easily be cleaned and made beautiful. Has a capacity of 2 kilos (that’s stamped in the middle between the trays, under the Ohaus name, under the needle). Comes with four troy weights (fascinating if you don’t know what these are)—the smallest is the “grain”, then 1oz, 5oz, and 1 pound, with the old-time symbol for pound or hashtag. Measures 13.75” long x 6” deep (the trays are the widest part and are 6” in diameter) x 6” tall. The base is 10” long x 5.5” deep. Asking $80 or best offer. Make an offer! Pick up near 34th St and Bosque.
