Description

This is a B. P. O. Elks Lodge Glass Belt Ashtray. It is in good condition. It is 5.25" in diameter and 1.25" tall. It has the words "B. P. O. Elks Lodge Number 28 60th Anniversary Wheeling June 22, 1944" on it. It is designed like a belt, with a belt buckle near the words. It has sun shapes on it. The Elks had modest beginnings in 1868 as a social club for minstrel performers, called the "Jolly Corks." It was established as a private club to elude NYC laws governing the opening hours of public taverns. This is an awesome ashtray to add this to your Elks Lodge memorabilia collection or tobacciana. Porch pickup. ( HALL).
