Heavy Antique Dragon Temple Bell 11.5” Tall

Description

Chinoiserie Dragon Bell of King Seongdeok. Deeply embossed, this solid bronze antique has an original dark patina finish. The bell has a rich ringing tone. 11 1/2" tall Hangs on a stand, the arm of which is shaped like a dragon. The bell hangs from a chain that goes through the dragon's eye, and another chain holds a hammer style gong that you pull back and release to hit the bell. Being that the bell is slightly elevated from the base, we hear the resonant sound as the bell rings. The ring is what I would characterize as somewhat high (versus low) in pitch, although not overly so. The design is a replica of the Sacred Bell of Great King Seongdeok, the original being in Korea and cast in 711 A.D. Now housed in the Gyeongju Museum, the original is deemed the 29th national treasure of Korea. Use as a unique toasting bell for a wedding or any party where you need to get attention but want to do so with style. Great for meditation spaces, home decor, display, garden, or collector piece
