I had an amazing experience with South Bay Hyundai. I started my car shopping journey through email and they were so patient with me. I never felt pressured to come in until I was truly ready. It was such a refreshing experience. Omar Ahmed took care of me and my family. I was really impressed with him. He understood my needs and exceeded them. Great experience from start to finish, Kevin (the sales person) was extremely friendly, polite and understanding of what we needed and were looking for. Easy to deal with, quick service and polite.
He took the time to listen and suggested based on our needs and budget, the process itself took less than an hour and we were on our way with our new car. Thank you Kevin and team. Would ABSOLUTELY suggest visiting. Also... after a week of visiting dealerships, this was a nice clean one, with plenty of seating and snacks, not to mention people that paid attention to you!

This 2020 Veloster N i picked up January is sick! I love the car! Purchasing experience was great. All staff was super friendly and a tentative.

However, SB Hyundai can do better with little effort. The reason I doc two stars is the two issues the car had within my first 2 week of ownership. Service department here could use a little motivation. A customer just wants no problems with a recent purchase of vehicle... I guess it too much to ask for at SB Hyundai

I live by the 91 & 57. So round trip to SB Hyundai cost me 2-4 hours and about $25 in gas.

1. Bad Battery.

You would think this is one first components checked on a car. I'm convinced they knew the battery was bad and sold it like that anyway.

After work one day, the car wouldn't start. Luckily I keep a portable jump starter handy.
While jump starting the car I noticed it was the 5 year old factory battery for car manufacturer.

I took maters into my own hands. Replaced the battery and emailed SB Hyundai to see if they couldn't reimburse me. After I sent them the test result and receipt, their response was to bring the old battery in for testing. Only then, if it really was bad, they would ask the used car sales and service managers if they could do anything about it.

Scale of operation and income is really big for parts and service center at a dealership, $200 check for a battery isn't a lot to ask for. You're not paying labor. You're not paying dealer price for a battery.

2. Outdated software, Bluelink doesn't connect.

I couldn't get bluelink to connect. I call bluelink support and spent hours with them.
They kept asking me to restart my headunit.
Drive out to open areas and get it to connect.
They weren't able to help me.

It took me a few days to trouble shoot reasons why bluelink wasn't connecting. A forum talked about how there was an update for these Headunits and that w/o that update, Bluelink doesn't work.

So after I found a spare flash drive. It took me 30 minutes to update my Headunit and blue link connected.  Why can't something like this be included when inspecting the vehicle and preparing it for sale. Completely beyond me.

I leased a car from Hyundai South Bay in February, and the vehicle was delivered to me by one of their staff. It wasn’t until I received a toll road invoice that I realized the employee had used the toll roads on the way to my place. I immediately contacted the dealership, and they assured me that they would take care of the charges. Since then, I’ve followed up multiple times via text, email, and phone calls. Every time, they just repeated the same thing: “We’ll take care of it, don’t worry.” But months have passed, and they still haven’t paid. This dealership has shown a complete lack of integrity—even over something so small. If this is how they handle a simple toll charge, I can’t imagine how they’d handle something more serious. I strongly recommend looking elsewhere. You never know what they’ll try to get away with.

Update_I sent the requested information via email, but nothing has been processed yet. Richard, you mentioned you would take care of it once you were back at work, and it’s already been three days since then. While the staff here are polite in conversation, it seems like no one actually follows through with getting things done.

Fantastic experience! Gerry was an incredible sales rep. Knew the car and the lease process inside and out. Head and shoulders above others I have dealt with. Hands on from start to finish and got us a great price. Highly recommend
