Description

merc 800 motor...tower of power Non runner. For parts in the cheap/ not sure the issue. Was always a pain to get dialed in w three carbs etc. Also I believe that there was an issue w a lower shaft seal that leaked some/ despite being replaced. I have a merc 800 outboard motor for sale with some history. My uncle borrowed the boat and had some plug issues. Though it took him a while to diagnose it. The boat stalled so he went to an island and fished around it. He said that when they came back the back part of the boat was under. His son my nephew was with him. My uncle used to spend a LOT of money on fishing gear. Lots. My cousin also had some very expensive eye glasses. Anyway as they came back around there were a few things floating. Being Hot and sunny at the lake my uncle shot from the hip- and his first exclamation was "Quick son grab the ham" The ham was recovered, though the glasses and quite a bit of tackle was obviously recovered by others. The official story is that a bush or tree near the bank removed the plug. Though this sounds about as official as saying officially our borders are closed... wink wink. I just got rid of the boat, but saved the motor because parts are super hard to find. I remember we purchased a carb alone for over 300. This motor has will start in forward and reverse. It has sat for about ten years. I also remember that there was an issue with a lower shaft seal? as the oil would need to be changed more frequently than others. So the person purchasing it would be doing so for parts/ would be a great motor to restore...if someone had an old classic.
