It is an evergreen perennial and somewhat drought tolerant, only requires occasional watering. Overwatering could drown its root system and cause the plant to rot and die. They are common foliage plants with erect, green-and-white-striped leaves. They generally blossom in the winter, with white or pale green flowers. They are popular for their air purifying and low maintenance qualities, which makes them ideal houseplants. Snake plants like sufficient sunlight, but are also tolerant of slightly shady / indoor environments. Long periods of exposure to sunlight in the summer should be avoided. They can be planted in pots. Clay pots, which have better drainage and are breathable, are recommended. Re-potting is recommended every 2-3 years, as well as replacing the soil and pruning, all of which benefit its regrowth in the following year.
