Description

D-20 is a 32-voice polyphonic synthesizer based on Roland’s digital Linear Arithmetic synthesis and ROM samples. The instrument is 9-part multitimbral. Memory provides with 128 preset patches, 64 user patches and 128 performances. The effects section delivers 8 effetcs (powerful reverb). The keyboard has 61 velocity sensitive keys. The instrument was released in 1988. D-20 is a budget alternative to D-50 and comes with similar features introduced in D-10 and D-110 besides which there’s an 8-track sequencer integrated (including a rhythm track). The programming requires some skill and time but the results can appear to be surprisingly amusing. Onboard drums include one kit, 63 sounds. This unit is smoke free and I’d give it solid 8 for its appearance with very slight marks and one little scratch on the face that can be touched up. All keys are straight. A few are a but iffy and will probably need the contacts cleaned. Not a hard job and tbh if you buy gear you should know how to do basic maintenance on them. Contacts get old and need simple attention to get them working. Battery works and all factory sounds are present. I never used the floppy so can’t say if it works. Was told it did. I haven’t had any problems this this synth aside from the few keys needing the contacts cleaned and slightly scratchy volume slider but it’s not drastic and you can set it and adjust on your mixer and squirt some Deoxit on it to alleviate it. Again this synth is from the 88 so it’s going to need some minimal tlc. It’s a powerful synth and is very nice sounding. The display is bright and totally legible. I’m letting it go because I just picked up a Roland alpha Juno 2 and will use that to control my Roland JD-08. Pretty straight forward. It’s heavy and solidly built and the keybed is really nice to play on with its full size keys. Comes with its own connected power cable so no need for one or risk of loosing it. All photos have been taken in direct sunlight to show accurate condition and this synth looks near mint in studio lighting. Feel free to ask any questions. $325 obo
