This is a very unique, mid 1970’s, birthing chair that was hand-carved in Spain. It is designed with side handles and a tall, narrow back. Highly decorated with heart shaped holes and thoughtful details throughout. Padded in deep red leather on the seat and back which, although it may appear to be uncomfortable, is quite comfortable - primarily due to the slightly curved lower back area. The leather is fixed neatly with brass toned studs/rivets/upholstery nails. Leather does not show any signs of cracks or scratches. It is in fabulous condition. This piece was made from indigenous soft wood which appears to have been burnt to accentuate the beautiful wood grain. Stands firmly on 3 splayed legs which are patterned. Robust hardware on the underside secures everything in place. The bottom hardware enables, if necessary, quick disassembly. Measures approximately 31” tall x 17” wide. This is a rather interesting piece that is lightweight and can easily be relocated from room to room. Perfect decor solution for that void corner space. Excellent condition. Cash only.
