Description

Selling Canna Lily rhizomes, one for $3, five for $10, twelve for $20 Canna Lilies are fast growing garden plants related to ginger that love full sun and heat, and are tolerant of a wide range of watering conditions once established. You can grow them in the ground where they can get massive, or in pots where they'll generally be a bit more tame, and if you have the space and the light they can even be houseplants. In some places they die off each winter and regrow from the rhizomes (basically like bulbs), but our frosts are really mild so here they can grow more or less continuously all year round if you want, and they flower for most of the year here too. They grow fast, the first photo is the size mine reached after maybe four or five years in the ground (and then I divided it a few times since then to keep it the same size), but they're not invasive since their seeds can't really germinate outdoors here. Hummingbirds love them so if you have a big Canna Lily plant in your garden you can expect to see hummingbirds visit you. And apparently you can eat the rhizomes like potatoes but I've never tried it cause it sounds like a lot of work for a probably subpar potato. I've had this plant for probably a decade by now, it's come with me through a couple moves, and the landlords at my last place let me plant it in the ground and it grew into what you see in the first photo. I'm moving again but unfortunately do not have a garden at the new place, only a small balcony, and the old landlords don't want to maintain a garden, so I've divided up the plant and am selling off what I can't keep! I'm not pricing this as a side hustle, my main goal is just to recoup some of the costs of my move and hopefully help some people get cool plants for their garden. Every rhizome I'm selling I pulled up with at least one solid healthy stem attached. I threw out a lot of it just because I wanted to make absolutely sure everyone is getting something viable (even though realistically the rest I threw out should be able to root anyway). Currently each of them still has leaves on it but if these sit for long those will wither away and it'll just be the rhizomes. I'll update this listing if it does get to that but even if it does they'll still be plantable, it just might take longer for them to get established and flower after planting. Since they're fast growing you can either buy a bunch of them and fill out an area, or with a little patience you can just get one and wait for it to grow huge. Mine got to like 7 feet tall and just as wide. First photo is the full grown plant these all came from. Second photo is the size of what I'm selling. The rest are just photos I've taken of it throughout the years to show it off. Lastly my new apartment has like no guest parking. If you live in Stockton or Lodi I can drive it to you when I have time off, otherwise we'll talk and probably find a midway point to meet.
