Description
These photograph cannot depict the true mesmerizing beauty in this Ben Hampton artwork of Nancy Ward-Cherokee Nation. It is framed with an oval mat and signed by Ben Hampton dated 1976. The print depicts Nanye-hi, known to settlers as Nancy Ward, a prominent historical figure and the "Beloved Woman" (Ghigau) of the Cherokee Nation. Ward was a respected warrior, a leader in the Women's Council, and an advocate for peace and coexistence between the Cherokee and white settlers. The title of "Beloved Woman" granted her significant power, including a seat on the Council of Chiefs and the authority to determine the fate of war captives. A monument marks her burial site in Benton, Tennessee. This would be an awesome Christmas gift for a Ben Hampton Collector . Pickup on hwy 58/ Mahan Gap Rd area.
