The operating system is long-term supported by the Linux community (open source). All the installed programs and utilities are open source (freeware). The computer will inform the user when software updates become available for download. The system will not perform a forced update. As such, no anti-virus software is necessary to secure the system. The system, nor any guest user, can download software without knowing the administrator's password. Linux is a very secure and robust operating system. The Cinnamon desktop looks very much like Windows 7. Data storage does not require a subscription to the Cloud.
