Description

Grandfather Clock 1. Overview This is a traditional longcase (grandfather) clock featuring the inscription “Tempus Fugit” on the arch of the dial. The clock displays characteristics typical of late-20th-century American-made reproduction grandfather clocks, particularly those produced by Howard Miller, Ridgeway, or Emperor Clock Company. To be completely honest, i'm not sure which one of those this is. but it's a solid wood quality piece. There's no press board or plywood here. 2. Key Identifying Features A. Dial & Face Roman numeral chapter ring Brass/silvered dial with etched ornamental corner spandrels Central disk with brushed brass finish Top arch features “Tempus Fugit” with a stylized map/globe design Hands: filigree serpentine style, consistent with late 1900s American clocks The center of the dial includes a printed name, which looks like Howard Miller (though slightly obscured in the image). Conclusion: Dial style, materials, and decorative brass spandrels are consistent with Howard Miller clocks produced from the 1970s–1990s. --- B. Case Construction Case is solid hardwood, likely oak or cherry, with a medium-brown finish. Features: Swan-neck pediment (scroll top) Central finial Turned side columns Glass upper and lower doors Simple carved base panel This clock's design cues match the traditional American Colonial style used by Howard Miller and Ridgeway in the 1980s–1990s. C. Movement & Interior Three brass chains visible (for a chain-driven movement) Brass pendulum bob This configuration is standard for: 8-day mechanical movement Westminster chimes (with potential additional chime selection) German-made Hermle or Kieninger movement (Howard Miller used both German movement manufacturers) No weights shown in the photo — the clock normally uses three weights on the chains. I DO HAVE THE WAITS FOR THIS.THEY'RE JUST IN A DRAWER AT THE MOMENT.BUT IT COMES WITH WAITS, IT'S A FULLY OPERATIONAL CLOCK!!
