- Provenance: original artwork signed “Ruolle” lower left… This piece was purchased in Europe in the 1960s, and has since been part of the Winter family collection of Accokeek, Maryland. - Media: acrylic on canvas stretched over masonite panel - Artwork Dimensions: 31 3/8”h x 25 1/2"v - Frame Dimensions: 34 1/2"h x 28 1/2"v - Condition: good, some craquelure Lucien Ruolle (1(contact info removed)) is known for painting works that habitually blend figuration and abstraction, often with vibrant, expressive, and modernist style. He was part of the School of Paris, an informal term for artists working in Paris during the early-to-mid twentieth century. His works are often characterized by their bright colors and vibrant, expressive energy. While Ruolle created narrative and figurative paintings, many of his works are abstract compositions featuring human-like forms. His works can be found in various museum collections including the Carnegie Museum of Art.
