Solid piece. Shelves are adjustable but it can be a bit tricky to move the shelf pegs based on where the holes are sitting. One of the shelf pegs for the bottom shelf is missing but the shelf is still sturdy enough to hold items. The bottom shelf can also be removed to make room to store larger items (see pics to show bookcase without fourth shelf).
