Description

MAKE AN OFFER! Downsizing and this guitar must go! Includes a case. This guitar was hand-made in Sweden by the Carlton Levin Company and sold in the United States under the name “Goya.”  The more common Goya G-10 models are found all over and are awesome guitars, but the nicer quality models are harder to find, and the G-13 was a huge upgrade from the G-10s. There's a lot more resonance and body to the sound – a noticeable difference - and I’ve owned and played both.  Goya was “THE” folk guitar of the 1960s. Stevie Nicks’ first guitar was this exact model. Bowie and the Stones used them in the studio early in their careers. Julie Andrews played a different model Goya in “The Sound of Music.” Pete Townsend played a Levin early on. The G-13 has a solid alpine spruce top with mahogany back and sides, mahogany neck with rosewood finger board, multicolored inlays around the sound hole, and white binding around the top. It has nickel plated machine heads with plastic buttons. It has a concert-size body with a 24 ¾” scale length – fun for fingerstyle. The neck has a D-shaped profile with a full 2” nut width. This guitar has an amazingly sweet sound!  Cosmetically, the finish is "crazed" in the classic way that all the European guitars from this time period are. Levin applied very thin nitro finishes and all spiderwebbed and cracked, each in their own unique way. This guitar has only minimal “crazing” compared to many of the Levin and Goya guitars I’ve seen.   This G-13 plays so beautifully and feels so great, and the body and neck are in amazing condition for a 59-year-old guitar; it has been well-cared for. There are professionally-repaired shallow cracks on the treble side near the edge (see closeup) that do not affect the sound. If you see this post, it’s still available. Check out my other postings. Cash only. No trade. Pick-up in Sun City area. Will meet at the Fairway Rec Center at 107th Ave and Peoria.
