Wood is either mahogany or cherry. The dating suggests 17th century but the piece may have been added to or updated over time (often happens when passed down through generations). Please see photos for vintage condition. It is very sturdy but this appears to have been made by a hobbyist or family woodworker so there are unique characteristics. I do not have the key to the lock so the door doesn’t close tightly and the wood isn’t closely joined or perfectly symmetrical in some areas. Still an incredible piece with amazing history that is worth much more. Great for those who love farmhouse, rustic, and organic modern style interiors
