Description

Overview: Up for sale is this fantastic woodblock print, "Kiyomizu Kyoto" by modernist Japanese printmaker, Kiyoshi Saito. It depicts a scene of the iconic Kiyomizu Temple in Kyoto. Saito is famous for being one of the earliest Japanese print artists to move from traditionalist styles and themes to more modern art-style subjects. This is titled "Kiyomizu Kyoto" at bottom center, numbered 17/100 at bottom center and dated 1963 in pencil at lower right. Print comes matted and framed in an extremely heavy wooden frame that appears to be period. There is a plexiglass that covers the print itself. Condition: Print and frame are in excellent condition. Linen matting has faint staining. Measurements: Print measures approximately 22.25 inches wide x 16.25 inches high (sight). Frame measures approximately 31 inches wide x 25 inches high.
