Description

We live in Los Angeles County and are selling this vintage French “Balloon” parlor chair. It is called a balloon chair due to the shape of the backrest. I purchased it about fifteen years ago at an estate sale and was told it was made in France. The wood looks to be walnut, but I am not sure. I am not sure of its age, but it looks as though it could be an antique. The elaborate carving of flowers around the shell at the top of the chair is dramatic and adds to the beauty of this piece of furniture. The seat was recovered before I bought it, and it is in good condition. A metal brace was added to the front leg, see photo. This chair is sturdy and will make an attractive addition to any room.
