Description
Antique cast iron barn beam auger/hand drill with wood handle. Dates to about late 1800s or early 1900s. Unbranded. These were used to drill holes in barn beams to be joined together with long wood pegs. This item is rare since they usually were made with a T handle. Have not found another one with this handle design listed anywhere. Cast iron ring on shaft is for wall hanging when not in use. Good overall condition with normal wear from age and use. Cast iron with light surface corrosion as shown. Wood handle is solid with minor wear from use as shown. Drill tip cuts a 2” diameter hole and is very good condition. Handle is about 10” long. Total length of item is about 30”. Ready for display or actual use. See pics for more details.
