Defects & imperfections – please check pictures made under the bright light & magnification: - missing closure pin on back (see photos) - I’ll include a closure for safety, but it won’t be the original one - scratches on the back Fascinating Fun Fact: - The phrase "I'd rather fight than switch" is the famous slogan for a 1960s advertising campaign for Tareyton cigarettes. - The campaign was created for the American Tobacco Company by the advertising agency BBDO. - Print ads: Beginning in 1963, magazine and newspaper advertisements featured models from all walks of life with a black eye, implying they had fought to remain loyal to their brand. - Television commercials: When TV ads began in 1966, the commercials featured defiant Tareyton smokers who would face the camera, state the slogan, and reveal their black eye. - Grammatical error: The slogan, "Us Tareyton smokers would rather fight than switch," famously used the grammatically incorrect "us" instead of "we," which also added to its memorability. - The campaign was successful, and Tareyton became a top-10 cigarette brand in the U.S. in the mid-1960s. Later, an ad campaign for Tareyton Light cigarettes modified the slogan to "Us Tareyton smokers would rather light than fight" and featured models with white makeup around their eyes.
