Description
This is a 1976 Scout II, 345 ci V8. It has 137,000 miles. While some components under the hood appear in working order or salvageable, it definitely shows its age and it does not currently run. If you’re reading this listing, you know that vintage Scouts like this are getting harder to find. Aside from its iconic character, you’re probably also aware of its durable core systems that make it a worthwhile rebuild or resto-mod project: (1) IH’s SV engine is low-revving, high-torque and overbuilt with thick castings, forged cranks, and tons of iron. They’re known to go 200+ miles with only routine maintenance, far surpassing their contemporaries. (2) The legendary front and rear Dana 44 axles are fully intact. (3) The Dana 20 transfer case is one of the most durable ever built, and still popular among off-roaders today as a swap. (4) The fully boxed, heavy gauged steel ladder frame is also fully intact. Admittedly though, much of the secondary frame members are very rusted and need repair or replace.
