Description

Great sounding speakers in excellent cosmetic and functional condition. They are not made in China but made in Europe. All three retail for $1600; $1200 for the mains and $400 for the center. I am asking $500 (less than a third) for the set. They are 4 years old and lightly used as a bedroom system, not my main living room system. I have been using them with my Fluance Reference XL8BP bipole surrounds and the combo works really well. I am selling those Fluance surrounds for $100, but will add them to this set for another $50. So $550 total for a 5.0 setup that sounds awesome together. The GLE 470.2 speakers each handle up to 170 watts of music, and the GLE 455.2 center handles up to 110 watts of music. I have used them with a 50 watt amp and they sounded great at lower levels (80dB at the listening position, C-weighted, but they did not have enough power to play loud. I have also used a 140 watt amp; they soaked up the power and could play beautifully at high levels - 98dB C-weighted at the listening position without strain. That was enough to damage hearing, so I turned it down. It is nice to know what they can do, however. Mostly I used them with a 95 watt per channel Receiver, the Yamaha RX-A780, and that receiver's automated setup routine wanted to cross over these GLE 4070.2 speakers to the sub at 40Hz in room. They go deep for two 7" woofers. I can play movies and stereo music as loud as I want on that setup. It's a bedroom, so no loud listening very often, though. I do not have their boxes anymore, but can transport them blanket wrapped to protect the flawless finish. I take good care of my stuff. If you have any questions, just ask.
