Description
Up for sale I have a vintage hard to find second series pre-Griswold #7 “Erie” cast iron skillet, made in Erie, PA between 1886 and 1892. This skillet has been fully restored using a lye bath, Electrolysis, and multiple rounds of seasoning with grape-seed oil and Buzzywax. It sits flat, has a silky smooth cooking surface, and cooks amazingly well, but does show some sulphur pitting from its historic use over a coal or wood fire, as well as evidence of grinding or wire wheeling from its prior owner, all of which is shown in the pics. Having gone through the Industrial Revolution, 2 World Wars, the Great Depression, and the turn of 2 Centuries, calling this pan “vintage” seems like an understatement. This is the pan your modern Lodge skillets wish they could be, but while she might be over 130 years old, she’s still got a lot of great life left!
