1948 Scott #963 Youth Month Saluting Young America 3-cent Stamp Post Marked. The image shows a 1948 United States 3c stamp commemorating youth month. Helpful information includes: The stamp was issued to honor the youth of America and celebrate "Youth Month" in September 1948.  It depicts a young boy and girl walking together, carrying books.  The stamp's design was announced by Postmaster General Jesse M. Donaldson on June 24, 1948.  It was initiated by Gael Sullivan, former assistant postmaster general and executive director of the Theater Owners of America.  The stamp's face value was 3 cents.  The Scott catalog number for the 1948 U.S. 3¢ Youth Month stamp is 963. The 1948 "Youth Month" stamp is primarily dark blue and cream. The design features blue text and graphics on a cream-colored background.
