Icelandic Poppies, 2020 Oil on canvas 24 x 24 inches Cassandra Alexandra Rees Cassandra is a self taught artist based in Los Angeles. She grew up in New England, lived in New Orleans for a year and settled in LA in 2016. LA has brought her an abundance of inspiration and opportunities. She sold her first painting in 2019. Since then she has completed 3 murals in LA. She hopes someday to make painting a full time career. She is constantly exploring new techniques and styles. This painting is part of her palette knife series. She did not use a paint brush only a knife to complete this painting. Palette knife is her current favored tool for painting with. She believes the thicker the paint, the more organic detail and texture to pop out and catch the viewers full attention. She paints everyday and posts new work to her Instagram account daily.
