Rare Vintage Springfield Post Civil War Armory Sword w C.G.S initials model 1860 please look at all the picture. antique item . sword only. The model 1860 Staff and Field sword prescribed for all officers on staff or for field grade officer’s during the Civil War period, became the standard sword for use by all officers in the army, other than mounted or of field grade rank, as per the new 1872 Uniform regulations. This was the second pattern sword produced at Springfield Armory beginning in the early 1880’s.
