BESSIE COLEMAN QUARTERS The Bessie Coleman quarter is part of the U.S. Mint's American Women Quarters™ Program, which celebrates the accomplishments of notable women in American history. Bessie Coleman was the first African American/ Native American woman to earn a pilot's license and also the first African American to earn an international pilot's license. The quarter was released in 2023 and features her on the reverse (tails) side, depicted as she prepares for flight. The "VOTO PARA LA MUJER (Votes for Women) quarter is part of the American Women Quarters Program featuring Nina Otero-Warren, a prominent figure in the New Mexican women's suffrage movement. It features General George Washington leading his troops across the Delaware River before the Battle of Trenton, a pivotal moment in the American Revolutionary War.
