Description
Thonet bentwood and cane rocking chair. These chairs are an iconic design, originally created by Michael Thonet in the mid-19th century, that became one of the first examples of mass-produced, designer furniture. The frame is made from steam-bent solid beechwood, a hallmark of Thonet's innovative process. It features characteristic sweeping curves and continuous volute (scroll-like) side elements shaped from single pieces of wood. Seat & Back: Both the seat and backrest are crafted with finely woven Viennese cane, which lends lightness and a classic texture to the piece. This design blends seamlessly with traditional, mid-century modern, or bohemian interiors and has remained popular for over a century.
