Description

Excellent Vintage Original Finish Pre-Owned Condition. This is an absolutely stunning Mid-Century Modern solid cherry Willett table; part of the “Transitional Cherry Collection”, which debuted in 1957. They did a huge ad spread in Better Homes & Gardens (see photos). It’s an original finish table in near-pristine condition. It was designed with an emphasis on open space, clean lines, in 100% cherry wood. It will co-exist harmoniously with more traditionally styled furniture, adding a pleasant contrast & making an eclectic statement. The legs on the table, as well as the piers between the top & bottom shelf are a simple variable radius turning. Drawer is dovetailed (longevity & durability) with simple round brass pulls. Sturdy, solid and ready to be a part of your home. Each piece of Willett furniture was sanded at least seven times along with five layers of hand-rubbed finish. The cherry wood furniture collections were made from solid cherry, inside and out--no veneers, plywood, particle board or any other cheap material even in interior places like drawer pieces. They were also famous for their hand-rubbed finishes, particularly on cherry, which often gave a glass-like polished but almost three-dimensional transparent depth to the wood, rather than appearing as a finish on the top of the wood, unlike many of the finishes now appearing on newly made cherry furniture. The “Transitional" collection debuted in 1957 and they did a huge ad spread in Better Homes and Gardens (see photos). Features: Material: 100% Cherry wood ; brass pulls are original Dimensions: Table- 23” x 22” x 24” H/W/D; space in between top and bottom shelf is 9”; drawer is 14” deep x 2¼” high Color: 5-layers of hand-rubbed finish to bring out the natural cherry wood color (see photos) Care: Dust with microfiber cloth; wax with a high quality paste wax at least once a year (recommend Staples Brand Paste Wax with Imported Carnauba) Thanks for looking!
