The medals portray the greatest paintings, sculptures, and architecture produced during the centuries from 1300 to 1600. The masterpieces honored in this collection were selected with the assistance of a group of eminent art historians, including scholars associated with such leading museums as the Uffizi in Florence, the Vatican Museums in Rome, the Louvre in Paris, The Royal Museum of Fine Art in Brussels, and the Prado in Madrid. The obverse of each medal depicts the work itself, while the reverse includes the name of the artist, the title of the work and the date of its creation.
