Jaggard”: Donna Jaggard a native of Northwest Chicago, she graduated from the University of Illinois, Chicago in 1967 earning a Bachelor of Arts in Design and worked as a freelance graphic artist in the Chicago area. Jaggard's art is described as postmodern and surrealist, featuring abstract, hard-edge, and geometric styles. Pieces often portray landscapes, geometric shapes, and natural scenes with a surrealist or abstract twist. Jaggard exhibited her work in numerous shows, primarily around the Chicago area, including the Art Independent Gallery, Deer Path Gallery, and the Gallery of the Park Forest Art Center. Her work has also been displayed at the Art Institute of Chicago. While not a widely celebrated name, Jaggard is considered a serious mid-century modern artist by those who appreciate her work. This work of abstract expressionism is truly cosmic, and is indicative of the human capability to develop fully comprehensive artificial systems of great beauty and imagination. The unorthodox layering of pigment and reworking of subsequent layers in a semi-dry state likely using a roller is indicative of a multidimensional awareness of the medium, drawing upon a broad range of available tools for its successful manipulation.
