Description

Built this toy for a science fair 20 years ago. It works well, both the simple telegraph and the hand operated crane, but it needs a new battery. I recommend at least three 6 volt lantern batteries, could be connected in series or parallel. The more batteries, the better the thing will work. Since it’s a low current dc battery operated device, it is 100 percent safe even up to several tens of volts. When operating, the telegraph taps out Morse code, and the crane can pick up lightweight ferrous objects, paper clips, etc. can be used to determine whether an object is magnetic or not. Might keep your kids entertained for an hour or so. Science kids may like it more.
