Antique Mission-Style Oak Side Chair – Buckeye Chair Co., Ravenna, Ohio (c. 1912 – 1918) Beautiful early-20th-century solid quarter-sawn oak dining chair made by the Buckeye Chair Company of Ravenna, Ohio. This authentic Mission-era piece dates to around 1912–1918 and features all the hallmarks of true American craftsmanship: • Material: Solid quarter-sawn white oak with visible ray-fleck grain pattern • Finish: Original warm medium-oak patina, hand-rubbed aged finish • Seat: Original hand-tacked leather seat panel with decorative brass upholstery tacks set into a hand-carved recessed frame • Backrest: Five vertical oak slats and a shaped crest rail topped with small turned finials on each post • Frame design: Slightly bent rear posts for ergonomic back pitch, turned front legs, and double stretchers for strength • Joinery: Mortise-and-tenon construction, hand-planed seat cavity visible underneath — classic pre-1920 craftsmanship • Maker’s label: Partial Buckeye Chair Co.
