Manufacturer Background: While this appears to be inspired by Thonet designs, it's likely from the mid-20th century revival of bentwood furniture. Michael Thonet pioneered bentwood technology in the early 19th century, inventing the steam-bending process that allowed wood to be bent into curved shapes. By 1900, the Thonet family operated 52 factories across Europe and was the world's leading manufacturer of bentwood furniture. After Thonet's patents expired in 1869, many companies produced similar designs. In the 1960s-70s, bentwood furniture experienced a significant revival, with many manufacturers creating pieces inspired by both Thonet's original designs and Shaker simplicity. Age of Item: This chair appears to date from the 1970s, during the revival period of bentwood furniture when manufacturers were creating pieces that combined mid-century modern aesthetics with traditional bentwood techniques. The gold upholstery and overall styling are consistent with furniture produced during this era. bentwood rocker, vintage rocking chair, Thonet style, Shaker furniture, gold upholstery, mid-century chair, bentwood furniture, 1970s furniture, padded rocking chair, wooden rocker, curved wood chair, statement chair, nursery rocker, living room chair, vintage bentwood
