Description
Super cool transitional Conn alto saxophone from 1933. At the time when this saxophone was made, Conn was producing some of the finest saxophones in existence, beloved by many serious players in America's burgeoning jazz scene. This particular saxophone is essentially a 6M (the absolute pinnacle of Conn altos, played by the likes of Charlie Parker and Johnny Hodges), boasting the distinctive underslung octave mechanism, neck microtuner, and left-side bell keys, but with pre-6M bell engraving. It plays with a full, sweet tone, never edgy or aggressive, and especially vocal in the high register. The pads are older but everything plays well after some recent adjustments. This horn was relacquered at some point in the past, which looks great but has unfortunately dulled the bell engraving a bit. Cosmetically this lacquer has held up well and there are some areas of wear (mostly on the neck) but no major damage or other issues to speak of. Overall a fantastic and functional piece of history ready to please any discerning player! Comes in a great condition Pro-Tec zippered case.
