Description

I purchased this brand new from a prestigious piano store in San Francisco back around 1980’s. I’m the sole owner, its been my baby, so you have to know ive watched over this like a child all these years, in a non-smoke home. I purchased it to learn on, unfortunately i did not progress as much and hardly played it. You can zoom in on the felt hammers and you can see they look almost new. If you need any more pictures, i can surely provide. This serial number #D serial number in photo -will show this was made in Japan in 1983 and imported from Japan versus one made in Michigan and Georgia. Aside from the sound, i’ll let the wood finish alone tell you the pride put into this piece, 42 years I’ve never had it refinished, looks the same as when i purchased it. The Yamaha store stressed how important the difference was in quality Yamaha pianos made in Japan versus Michigan which closed in 1986 and Georgia which closed in 2005. Since these closings, Yamaha piano manufacturing moved to Indonesia, China and Taiwan. Only high end grands are still made in Japan. The last time i moved this piano was February 2024 and it never needed retuning. Look up serial numbers of any Yamaha pianos you are looking at currently and most likely it will not be made in Japan. I do not want to let my baby go, but we are moving out of the country February 2026 back to China. You are welcome to come and play and try it out .We’ve had to play on an electric Yamaha P-125 just out of respect to the neighbors downstairs, but if you want to try it out its ok You are welcome to call me if you have any questions. Let me know and i can exchange contacts with you.
