Description
A friend of mine was stationed at the South Pole Station from November 1962 to December 1963. His assignment was as an aurora and airglow research scientist. Prior to the conclusion of his assignment, he bought the t-shirt at the “ship’s store” (the station was operated by the US Navy at that time). As a side note my friend has a mountain in that area named after him, Mount Fries. The shirt has never been worn but I did wash it given that it had 62 years of dust on it. The tag indicates that it’s size 4 but my estimation is that it’s closer to size 2 (see dimensions). Approximate Dimensions: Length 16” Chest 20” Shoulders 11” Sleeves 5” Weight 2.2 Ounces
