The nüviCam LMTHD$449.00 at Amazon has a 6.1-inch, 800-by-480-pixel touch screen and a dash cam that captures HD video. It comes with a 4GB microSD card to capture dash cam recordings, a car-compatible power supply with a traffic receiver, a USB cable, mount, and a simple installation guide. The battery offers up to 30 minutes of life and charges up in less than 10 minutes out of the box. As you navigate, you can see a lot of information on the screen: the posted speed limit, your current speed, arrival time, and the miles to your next turn. Traffic, Dash Cam, and Conclusions The nüvicam LMTHD comes with free lifetime traffic alerts. It must be plugged in using the provided cable, which includes a traffic receiver. But while there was some significant traffic along my routes, which was reported in Waze, I didn't receive any traffic alerts from the GPS.  Garmin's dash cam not only serves as a recording device while you're driving, but it can also alert you if you're driving too close to the car ahead of you (forward collision warning) or if you start to drift off the road or into oncoming traffic (lane departure warning). The 1920-by-1080-pixel dash cam is set to automatically record when you power the device on, and writes over older recordings once the memory card fills up, which you can change in settings. You can also turn on incident detection, in which the camera automatically saves video when it detects a possible driving incident. Even when recording, you can still view the navigation screen. You can easily transfer your photos and videos to your computer using Garmin's free dash cam player, where you can also view and edit them. Just plug your device into your computer using the included USB cable and you'll be prompted to transfer your files. The software is available for PCs running Windows 7 and later, and Macs running OS X Mavericks and later.
