Antique Secretary Desk also known as an “Escritoire”. According to an app that was used to identify a photo of this piece; it is likely 1920’s to 1940’s and probably Walnut or Mahogany veneer over solid wood! This is ideal where a compact workspace is needed since the writing surface can be neatly folded away to conceal clutter. This antique Secretary Desk is made of wood and is in either the Queen Anne or French Provincial style furniture. It’s the perfect project to create a beautiful makeover. There is some obvious repair work on the side, but not too noticeable. The front panel is hinged inside and drops down and pulls out and becomes a “desk”. Easy clean up includes just closing that shelf panel/door shut. Antique design which includes a removable interior desk piece with two small drawers and a few shelves and little nooks to store things. Use the desk with or without the interior piece. Underneath the fold out shelf is a drawer (with two handles) for supplies. The top of this furniture is missing a little piece of edging on the right. This antique Secretary Desk is an Estate Sale find from over 10 years ago. We don’t have a need for it anymore. Great handcrafted scallop work and the beautiful two front legs have fancy feet.
