Description

First off, I admire quilts, I don't make them, so forgive me if I use the wrong terminology or description. Must see! Me describing it, is not doing it justice. 8 point star pattern that could have some feed sack material left over from other quilts she made, but a few "points" are more light weight and sheer fabrics and those have disintegrated or are ripped. The back is a yellow floral print and possibly feed sack. Looks to be machine stitched to create a quilt top. When I looked inside the tear in yellow fabric (at the bottom) to see what kind of batting was used, I noticed ANOTHER quilt inside or just stuffed using scraps of old clothing and batting. Recycling at its finest!! The inside "quilt" has squares of black background and white background with geo shape (squares) patterns. Material is sheer and thin, not 100% cotton, maybe rayon or silk blend? Quilts are tied together so I couldn't see much, but the sheer fabric has wear (holes), and the batting is in rows? and is coming out in places and ends up in the corners of the newer quilt/cover, or lumpy rows can be felt in the middle of the 8 point star quilt. I'll just take lots of pictures, I don't think I'm describing it very well or doing this quilt justice, it is beautiful. Measures 68" L x 47" W. Weighs approx 3.5 lbs Age: Unknown. Guess is late 1940 's. The sheer fabric could be from 1930's and the fabric repurposed into a quilt or maybe made for the purpose of batting this quilt as it's not the softest or strongest of fabrics to make a quilt out of but it would hold batting. If you untied them, you could have 2 quilts or a coverlet/ duvet cover. It is in need of repair, the fabric is very old and has rips and stains. Maybe someone would fix it and it ends up in a museum. PLEASE LOOK AT PHOTOS CLOSELY! Smoke free home but was stored in a tote with other musty smelling quilts. I have not washed it. Selling as-found. If you have any other questions, please ask. Pick-up in S. Federal Way /Milton. Cash Only. Open to offers.
