DO NOT BUY FROM THIS DEALERSHIP AT ALL COST. Prices may be great and the vehicles may look great but, IN THE LONG RUN THEY WILL BREAK. 2 days in to ownership of my pride and joy a 2008 Corvette with only 74k miles a clean title and no accidents had broken down on me just cruising going 55 mph. Now I have to wait from GM to get a quote for my vehicle from all the codes given which were 2 P0300 2 P0420 and P0068 which can face repair cost of $2500-THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS. Depending on the cost and maintenance of the dealers price.

THEY DONT MAINTENANCE THE CARS OR DO ANY DIAGNOSTIC JUST CLEAR THE CODES AMD SLAP A PRICE IN THE WINDOW PLEASE BEWARE……… I went here to purchase a low priced used car that I had been wanting for a while, I get there luckily my husband went with me he looked under both my choices and they were leaking, drip drip drip. When we were approached by the salesman he asked if we needed help my husband had asked him if he looked under the cars and the guy said why would I? It’s a used car sold for cheap. My husband said you shouldn’t sell problems to people when they are there looking to spend their hard earned money and asked if he knows which one doesn’t leak then The guy said let me know when you find one that doesn’t leak and walked away. We left and I’m so thankful my husband was their cause I probably would have bought the car I wanted luckily I wasn’t scammed by these crooks make sure you look under the car for a leak better yet spend your money else where…. I found a great deal in Modesto at a place right next to Stanislaus towing on Angie.

Absolutely horrible, do no buy from this place,  had a family member buy a car, now can't smog it, have put over 2k in repairs,  then a friend bought a car here and has had it barely a yr had to replace the starter, has a huge oil leak, and wiring problems,  almost wrecked on the freeway in the rain, windshield wipers stopped working and lights went out...  I work in auto sales and this dealership is nothing but a bunch of kinks and roaches..... If you want a good quality vehicle contact me I'll show you how it's supposed to be done...

Consider this a 4.5 star review, meaning I would definitely purchase here again. Just know that this is a discount dealership and you are getting a discount vehicle that may not be in top condition. What you see is what you get, so test drive and inspect, and be aware of CA's "Car Buyer's Bill of Rights", (more about that at the end).

As for my experience, I bought a 20yr old truck with 180k miles, and I am happy with the price and condition of the vehicle.  Tim, who sold me the car was both helpful and respectful.

I called in advance to get an "out the door" price, and Tim looked over the vehicle for any "gotcha" defects before I drove 2hrs to test drive it. I picked it because it was priced below any comparable truck in 100 miles (including on Craigslist), so I expected some moderate issues that justified the price.

After a test drive, I told Tim I wanted to call a former mechanic I know, and he politely gave me some space and time to make the call. After I decided to buy it, he even redid some of the paperwork when we asked to add a second name to the title, even though he had to stay 20 minutes after closing to finish.

The truck had several issues not listed on the website or shown in photos, but I felt they were reasonable considering the truck's age and price. For example, the bed had not been cleaned (full of dirt and some caked on concrete), the horn was broken and rewired to the dash by a previous owner, and the A/C worked but the actuator to switch to heat was missing. Also, the tires were mismatched and in terrible condition, which caused a shake above 60mph. The change oil indicator was on, and the truck had 1/16th tank of gas when we bought it.

That being said, there was no hidden damage, and that's critical.

I know because I had the truck inspected at Pep Boys after purchase, and they called out a radiator flush (ph out of spec), a loose belt tensioner, and very minor leaks for oil and power steering (the truck doesn't leave puddles, but there's gunk underneath). For a 20yr old discount truck, that's fantastic. I also bought the cheapest tires money can buy at Wal Mart along with a high mileage oil change, and the shake cleared up immediately.

Again, CJ's didn't do anything shady to hide any of those things like clear any engine codes or even reset the oil change indicator. They also never tried to change the price from what I was quoted over the phone (including taxes, registration, and fees).

That being said, I don't think they do a full inspection or any big repairs on their vehicles (at least not at the price I paid—their more expensive cars may be different!), so there may be issues that pop up. That's why I recommend getting a pre-purchase inspection if you can (I didn't ask about one since I was driving 2hrs each way and the price was too good to pass up), or consider purchasing the "cancellation option" they offer per CA's "Car Buyers Bill of Rights".

Based on the price of the vehicle, for $75-$250 you can buy the "cancellation option" and return the vehicle "in the same condition" by the end of the second business day for a refund. CJ's allows up to 250 miles of driving (check your contract to confirm). If you return it, you pay a restocking fee of $175 to $500, also based on the price. They have to subtract the original fee from the restocking fee, so for my truck I could have purchased the cancellation option for $75 and returned it in 2 days for an additional $100 ($175 minus $75), though I chose not to get it in the first place.

Tim did say that if the check engine light came on, I may have to correct that before returning it, but the contract specifically exempts "manifestations of pre-existing defects or mechanical problems not caused by you", so that was incorrect, though he didn't pressure me either way. So if you are at all unsure, and have a little extra cash, buy the cancellation option and get the car inspected in the next 2 days if you can't get a pre-purchase inspection.

Overall, I am happy with the the price, service, and vehicle I received!

The guys over at cj auto were very friendly and knowledgeable. It was the best experience I’ve ever had with buying a car and I would definitely recommend them for anyone looking for a used car!
