This device is quite rare and powerful. It can output 4 clock streams that you can offset with the encoders on the front. You can actually play it like an instrument, but adjusting the clock outputs that go to your sequencers or various machines. You’ll find that sometimes just having your sounds perfectly on grid doesn’t sound as good as adjusting it just slightly forward and back. It lets you dial in a very nice groove. The only issue is one of the rubber feet pads came off, theres a piece of tape on the corner now that is leveling it out. The ACME-4, from SND, is an Advanced Clock Management Engine (ACME) that provides extremely stable analog and MIDI clock for optimal synchronization. The unit emits four separate clock streams, each of which can be edited individually. A single master clock assumes control in all configurations, a decision which drastically improves synchronization when multiple devices are in play. Delving deeper, all of the ACME-4’s streams feature editable swing, fine and coarse time-shifting, among other tempo shifting and stream activating functions. Even better, all of these controls can be governed using MIDI, an included software editor, of manually via its intuitive front panel interface.
